Serious Posting

For three years running, now, I’ve hosted Castmaster, a gameshow of sorts at The Land–the Vintage tournament and friendly, good-time gathering hosted by Rajah James in a remote location near Warren, Ohio. Castmaster is based on Taskmaster, a televised British gameshow featuring comedians doing various challenges or “tasks” and getting scored for doing them. The tasks can be of almost any sort: large-scale or small, mental or physical, mundane or fanciful, straightforward or elaborate, and so on. Most tasks are individual, but some are team based, and a few are head-to-head.

We had 18 wizards gather in Columbus, OH for the 9th annual Hazard Serious Invitational Birthday extravaganza.

For nine years (skipping a couple for the COVID pandemic), the Hazards, Matt and Trece, have hosted a Vintage Magic tournament in February in Columbus for Matt’s birthday. The Hazardserious Invitational (HSI) is a great excuse to get together once the holidays have wound down and there’s that cold-cold lull before spring starts and you really want to go outside. For previous HSIs, I would write a fun pub-quiz style game to run after the Swiss rounds so that people could hang out, win some prizes, and wait for friends to win or lose in the finals.

14 mages gathered in Ann Arbor, to drink a keg and battle Vintage! Hosted by Kevin Poesnich, the event featured food, friendship and the debut of ((Tezzeret, Cruel Captain)).
